Works from Le Louarn and Pascal missing from abdominoplasty articles.

Dear Sir: It was disappointing to read in Aesthetic Surgery Journal (vol 30, no. 3, May/June 2010) three articles1,2,3 regarding seroma following abdominoplasty with no mention of the great works of Le Louarn and Pascal, who began describing the importance of preservation of the lymphatic trunks in the inguinal region in 1992 and again in 2000 and 2006, with an excellent review article in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in 2009 (33:366-376). They presented their work at the biannual International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) meetings in Istanbul (2002), Houston (2004), and Melbourne (2008). They also presented at the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS) meeting in Sydney in 2003. I am personally aware of other presentations in London and Ekaterinburg, Russia. In summary, Le Louarn and Pascal have been at the forefront of improved techniques in abdominoplasty and especially in the prevention of seroma, with their description of the lymphatic channels in the inguinal region. They should be recognized in any article written on the subject of abdominoplasty.
